Art Workshops at Grasby Art Studio in Calgary

These workshops are for artists who have taken our beginner-level workshops — or have equivalent experience. Some painting experience is required.

What You'll Create

• Charcoal on Canvas – Master dramatic contrast and expressive mark-making with charcoal techniques
• Cityscapes – Capture urban architecture with perspective, light, and atmospheric depth
• Treescapes – Render natural forms with texture, movement, and seasonal color palettes
• Florals – Render floral forms with texture, movement, and seasonal color palettes
• Mountain Palette Knife Painting – Build bold, textured landscapes using impasto techniques and dynamic color mixing

Workshop Details

Four dates are allotted to each theme. You may attend all 4 dates or select specific dates. Each workshop runs 3 hours and includes instruction, and personalized guidance on composition and planning, palette planning and colour harmony, underpainting, painting techniques for texture, colour intensity, and value balance. You'll leave with a large feature wall art piece you can be proud of.

Who Should Attend

Intermediate workshops are designed for artists who have completed our beginner workshops, or who have equivalent experience with drawing and painting fundamentals. Some painting experience is required — you should be comfortable handling a brush or palette knife and mixing colour before you join us.
