Snow & Ice Painting Workshops | Grasby Art Studio Calgary

Paint the winter landscape across four relaxed sessions and finish with a beautiful feature wall painting. Four dates are allotted to snow and ice, allowing a flexible, unhurried progression to a completed work of art.

In these workshops you will:

• EXPLORE the beauty and majesty of the winter landscape
• LEARN how to mix winter whites on your palette
• USE colour temperature to create depth in the landscape
• LEARN techniques to create snow and ice textures
• UNDERSTAND how the value of your colours creates a focal area
• PLAN your colour palette — realistic or impressionistic
• CREATE a compelling winter composition

Working with Teresa

These intermediate workshops are led by studio founder Teresa Grasby. Teresa takes on the subjects artists find most challenging and shares the efficient process she has developed for them, worked in a loose, expressive style. Most artists use the four sessions to build one large-format canvas — a finished feature wall painting to take home.

• Level: Intermediate — for artists who have completed our Beginners series, or who have equivalent experience

• Class size: 8 artists maximum

Supplies

We provide all the specialty supplies this workshop needs. Please bring a basic supply kit and a canvas with you on each workshop day — the three primaries plus black and white, a small palette knife, a disposable palette and a variety of brushes. You may work in the medium of your choice. If you’re missing something, individual supplies, canvases and full kits are at the front desk.
