CHARCOAL ON CANVAS WORKSHOPS CALGARY | Intermediate Drawing & Painting

Charcoal on canvas — a bold, expressive way to draw. Work large and loose on primed canvas, building deep velvety blacks and luminous highlights with vine and compressed charcoal, then fixing and refining your marks. A perfect December subject: dramatic, atmospheric, and forgiving.

• Preparing and toning canvas for charcoal
• Building value structure — massing darks, lifting lights
• Vine vs. compressed charcoal, and when to use each
• Blending, erasing and mark-making for texture
• Fixing and finishing so your piece lasts

• 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Saturday afternoons 1–4pm that same December run our Cloud Painting workshops — take one or both.

• $285 for the full three-workshop series
• $95 per single workshop
