Beginners Oil Painting Course

Join our beginners oil painting course and discover the luxurious rich texture of oil paint. The course is comprised of 5 classes - each focusing one particular oil painting fundamentals. You may take individual classes or take the entire comprehensive course. In this oil painting course you will:

LEVEL 1 - Colour Theory and Mixing

In level 1, you will learn about the oil paints, tools, mediums, and the supports available to artists. You will also come to understand colour theory, and learn an effective colour mixing method.

LEVEL 2 - Techniques I

In level 2, you will learn how to use a variety of wet oil techniques to create a series of small paintings. You will learn how to use your tools to create a variety of soft, luminous effects in oil paint.

LEVEL 3 - Techniques II

In level 3, you will create a series of small oil paintings using impasto and palette knife painting techniques. You will learn how to use your tools to create a variety of heavy, bold effects in oil paint.

LEVEL 4 - Techniques III

In level 4, you will learn to layer your paint fat over lean. You will use a combination of wet, dry brush techniques to create a series of small paintings.

LEVEL 5 - Techniques IV

In level 5, you will learn to layer your paint fat over lean. You will use a combination of wet, dry brush techniques. You will learn to create more complex tones and textures.
