Beginners Oil Painting Workshops | Levels 5-8 | Course II

Continue your artistic journey with the beginner oil painting workshops offered at Grasby Art Studio every second month through the year. Levels 1-4 cover the basics — Levels 5-8 go beyond the basics. These workshops suit beginners who have completed Levels 1-4 or have learned some basic oil technique. Levels 5-8 build on the wet, dry and mixed techniques from Levels 1-4 while introducing methods used to render specific subjects: landscapes, skies, floral, still life, animals and buildings.

Your instructor

The beginner workshops are hosted by artist McCrory Skuce, a graduate of AUArts (Alberta University of the Arts).

Course Structure

In Levels 5-8 you focus on one subject area each workshop and explore the techniques specific to it, while being introduced to the fundamentals behind finished works of art: composition, form, perspective, focal area, value balance, and colour and mark harmony.

Supplies

All class supplies are provided. A supply kit for home practice between workshops is available — purchase it on workshop day, or ahead of time in the studio.

• $95 — single workshop
• $360 — full four-workshop course (save $20 vs booking the four workshops singly)

New to oils? Start with Beginners Oil Levels 1-4 — Course I, the basics, no experience needed. Fall Course I starts Sept 11/13/15; the New Year intake starts Jan 8/10/12, 2027.

Every course runs four consecutive weeks — no sessions fall on holiday weekends.
