Beginners Oil Painting Workshops | Levels 5–8
Go beyond the basics. Levels 5–8 build on the wet, dry and mixed techniques from Levels 1–4 and apply them to specific subjects, while introducing the fundamentals behind a finished painting: composition, form, perspective, focal area, value balance and colour harmony. Take only the levels whose subjects interest you, or all four for a well-rounded technique base.

What you'll learn — Levels 5–8
- Level 5 | Landscapes — mountains, fields, rocks and trees.
- Level 6 | Floral — flowers, still life and plants.
- Level 7 | Water — waves, streams, lakes and reflections.
- Level 8 | Skies — clouds, sunsets and big prairie skies.
Levels 5–8 are Part 2 — for artists who have completed Levels 1–4 or have equivalent experience.
Dates & times
Four weekly workshops, 3 hours each, no sessions on holiday weekends. Fridays & Sundays 9am–12pm in Studio B · Tuesday evenings 6–9pm in Studio C. Part 2 runs every second month, between the Levels 1–4 intakes.

Cost & booking
- $95 — single workshop (one level, one date)
- $360 — Part 2, Levels 5–8 (four workshops) — $270 with code PART2 if you took Part 1 with us

Supplies
We provide all specialty supplies. Bring a basic kit and a canvas to every workshop:
- Paints: the three primaries plus black and white — Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Red, Titanium White and Black.
- Tools: a small palette knife, a disposable palette, a variety of flat or filbert brushes, and a small bottle of linseed or walnut oil.
Bring what you already own. Our Oil Supply Kit covers the whole list for $88; kits and canvases are at the front desk on workshop day.

Grasby Art Studio, 6520 Bowness Road NW, Calgary. Studio B for Friday and Sunday workshops; Studio C (lower level) for Tuesday evenings. Free street parking plus 5 fenced alley stalls.
