Begin you journey as an artist at Calgary's private art school dedicated to quality art education since 2011. Grasby Art Studio in NW Calgary, Bowness offers an excellent acrylic painting courses for beginners throughout the year. The course consists of 4 workshops that cover a key aspect of acrylic painting.
Designed with flexibility in mind, you can choose to attend individual classes or complete the entire series for a well-rounded foundation. This course is perfect for those eager to build essential skills step-by-step. In these workshops students will complete a variety of small paintings and exercises designed to practice new skills and techniques.

Duration: Each workshop is 3 Hours (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Cost: $95 per workshop, Full Course is $360
Content:
- Workshop 1 | Level 1: Colour Theory and Colour Mixing
- Workshop 2 | Level 2: Wet Techniques
- Workshop 3 | Level 3: Dry Techniques
- Workshop 4 | Level 4: Mixed Techniques
A basic kit is required for the workshop and for the home practice assignments (Beginners Acrylic Supply Kit). All supports and other supplies will be provided in class. The kit includes:
- Paints: Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Red, Titanium White, and Black.
- Tools: Small palette knife, palette paper pad, a variety of flat or filbert brushes, and a script/rigger brush.
The full kit or individual supplies are available for purchase at the desk on workshop day, or you can buy your kit online.
How to Register
- Choose to register for the full course or single dates.
- Choose to attend on Sundays or Fridays 1-4pm
- Select if you would like to purchase the Beginners Acrylic Starter Kit.
