What You'll Learn

Create a luminous underpainting
Lay out your own compelling composition
Build an analogous or complementary colour palette
Layer your paint fat over lean with brush and palette knife
Finish a painting with a clear focal area, balanced for value and colour intensity

Working with Teresa

These intermediate workshops are led by studio founder Teresa Grasby. Teresa takes on the subjects artists find most challenging and shares the efficient process she has developed for them, worked in a loose, expressive style. Most artists use the three sessions to build one large-format canvas — a finished feature wall painting to take home.

Perfect For

Artists who have completed our Beginners series, or who have equivalent experience, and who want to improve their landscape painting, learn new techniques, or simply enjoy a creative afternoon painting beautiful treescapes in a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere.

Supplies

We provide all the specialty supplies this workshop needs. Please bring a basic supply kit and a canvas with you on each workshop day — the three primaries plus black and white, a small palette knife, a disposable palette and a variety of brushes. If you’re missing something, individual supplies, canvases and full kits are at the front desk.
