BEGINNERS DRAWING WORKSHOPS CALGARY | Levels 1-4

For 15 years Grasby's has offered excellent beginners drawing workshops.  Beginners develop foundational drawing skills through our leveled workshop series at Grasby Art Studio in NW Calgary. Each level targets a core discipline of drawing, specifically: value, form, texture, and perspective. Attend individual workshops to explore one discipline, or complete the full sequence of workshops (1-4) for a comprehensive foundation in drawing.

Details:

• Workshop 1 | Level 1 | Value - In workshop 1 we will discover the tools, techniques, and supports used in drawing and we will complete a series of value studies.
• Workshop 2 | Level 2 | Form - In workshop 2 we will learn a system to greatly improve your drawing accuracy
• Workshop 3 | Level 3 |Texture - In workshop 3 we will explore how you use your tools to create a variety of textures - rough, smooth, shiney, fury, feathery, etc.
• Workshop 4 | Level 4 | Perspective - In workshop 4 we will learn systems to create depth and draw subjects in perspective

Winter Session: Sundays Feb 1,8,15,22, 1-4pm

THURSDAYS

Winter Session: Thursdays February 5,12,19,26

Spring Session: Thursdays in April 9, 16, 23, 31

Class Details

Duration: Each workshop is 3 Hours

Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Cost: $95 per workshop, Full Course is $360 (20% discount)

Materials:
A basic starter kit is required (Beginners Drawing Supply Kit). All supports and other supplies will be provided in class. The kit includes:

• Charcoal, Graphite, Pastel: willow or vine charcoal, charcoal powder, charcoal pencils white and black, graphite pencils 2H-12B, white & black chalk pastel
• Paper: Bateman Paper
• Mechanical Eraser, vinyl eraser  & sharpener

The full kit or individual supplies are available for purchase at the desk on workshop day, or you can buy your kit ahead of time online and it will be ready for you on workshop day.

How to Register

• Choose to register for the full course or single dates.
• Choose the session: Winter - Feb, Spring - April, or Late Spring - June
• Choose to attend on Sundays or Thursdays 6-9pm
