Beginners Acrylic Painting Course

Join our acrylic painting course for beginners. The course is comprised of 5 independant classes that cover different aspects of acrylic painting. You may take the classes of interest or take all of them as a comprehensive course. In this course you will:

LEARN the importance of colour value and temperature
DISCOVER an effective colour mixing method
UNDERSTAND the painting tools and supports used in acrylic painting.
BUILD acrylic painting skills and knowledge of wet, dry, and impasto techniques.
CREATE a series of small acrylic paintings.
PROGRESS at your own pace. These classes are offered 3 times yearly, winter, spring, and fall.
SIGN UP for one to all five classes. Together they comprise a comprehensive beginners acrylic painting course.

A basic kit is required

TAKE 1, 2, 3 or all 5 levels. Take them as a compressed course or take the techniques of interest.

LEVEL 1 - Colour Theory & Mixing

In level 1, you will learn about the acrylic paints, tools, mediums, and the supports available to acrylic artists. You will also come to understand colour theory, and learn an effective colour mixing method.

LEVEL 2 - Techniques I

In level 2, you will learn how to use a variety of wet acrylic painting techniques to create a series of small acrylic paintings. You will learn how to use your tools to create a variety of soft effects, edges, and textures wet-in-wet.

LEVEL 3 - Techniques II

In level 3, you will learn about the tools involved in dry brush and impasto painting. You will use these tools to create a series of small paintings "wet on dry".
