Animal Impressionism

Join our 2 part animal impressionism workshop for beginner to intermediate artists. In this workshop you will:

  • LEARN to make an impressionistic portrait of your favourite animal or pet.
  • PRACTICE an effective drawing method to create your composition.
  • USE colour theory and a colour wheel to plan your palette.
  • DISCOVER strategies and tools to create animal textures.
  • CREATE a finished work of art .
  •  PROGRESS at your own pace.

Part 1 - Composition

In part 1, you will create an effective underpainting and composition for your piece. You will learn a drawing method to ensure accuracy.

Part 2 - Colour / Detail

In part 2, you will learn how to plan an impressionist colour palette and layer the values and tones. You will learn techniques to create fur or feather texture. 

Optional - More Detail

Part 3 is offered for those wanting coaching to achieve more realism in their work.You may attend our open studio hours at an hourly drop-in rate.
