WORKSHOPS - CITYSCAPES

Work with artist Teresa Grasby to create an impressionistic cityscape in acrylic.  Learn the tricks and techniques to create a painting of the built environment in a loose and expressive style.  The workshop is intended for intermediate level artists, however, beginners may attend and accomodations will be made to create a simpler composition.

Sundays in March 2025 are alotted to the city painting theme.  This allows you progress at a relaxed pace, in a systematic fashion, towards a professional result that you can be proud of.   The progression is as follows:

Underpainting and Perspective Drawing
City Shapes and Shadows
City Midtones and Reflected Light
City Highlights and Detail
Finishing Details (lights, cars, windows, signs, pedestrians)

 In this course you will:
  • DISCOVER an effective process for mountain painting
  • LAYOUT  a compelling mountain composition
  • PLAN your colour palette (realistic or impressionistic)
  • DISCOVER an effective process for painting city scenes
  • LAYOUT  a compelling street composition
  • PLAN your colour palette (realistic or impressionistic)
  • LEARN to use your tools to create reflected and radiant light in the city
  • CREATE a beautiful feature wall painting

Offered: 3 times yearly

Cost:  $95 / date / 3 hours

TIME: 1:00-4:00pm

SUPPLIES:

You may paint in acrylic or oil.  Acrylic is recommended for its drying speed.  Special materials are provided for this workshop, however,  a basic kit of heavy bodied acrylics or oils and a canvas are required.  Should you need supplies we will have everything on hand in our store on workshop day.  A basic supply kit and canvas options will be available to you.
